The Great series 2 FIRST LOOK: Gillian Anderson dons elaborate gown
Gillian Anderson and Elle Fanning both donned elaborate gowns in the first pictures released from the upcoming second season of Hulu series The Great on Monday.
Sex Education actress Gillian, 53, wore a beautiful dress covered in flowers and a matching head piece while filming the period show.
Meanwhile Elle slipped into a light blue and yellow corset-style dress as she held onto the arm of her on-screen mother.

Gillian’s hair, a platinum blonde nearly silver color, was put up in a large wig and donned a pair of expensive looking earrings.
The X-Files star will play Catherine the Great’s mother Johanna in the critically-acclaimed Hulu series.
The first season of the show centered around the ascent of Catherine, played by Elle Fanning, to the throne of Russia.
Nicholas Hoult of X-Men: First Class fame and Iron Fist actor Sacha Dhawan also appeared in the first season of the show that was nominated for two Emmys and two Screen Actors Guild awards.

Anderson sports a number of impressive credits including a main role in The X-Files as FBI Agent Dana Scully, and, more recently, as Dr. Jean Milburn in the Netflix show Sex Education and Margaret Thatcher in The Crown.
She has a number of upcoming roles outside of The Great as well.
The star will play Eleanor Roosevelt in the upcoming television series The First Lady and Vivienne in White Bird: A Wonder Story which will center on a family that hides a Jewish girl in Nazi-occupied France.

As for her personal life, the American Gods actress broke up with her longtime boyfriend Peter Morgan last year.
The two started dating in 2016, but their relationship didn’t work out. Anderson called the creator of the Crown a ‘former boyfriend.’
The Last King of Scotland actress has married and divorced twice. She was married to Clyde Klotz from 1994 to 1997 and Julian Ozanne from 2004 to 2007.
She has three children from past relationships: Piper, 27, Oscar, 14, and Felix 13. The last two are her children with psychologist Mark D. Griffiths.
