I’m A Celebrity: New arrival Adam Woodyatt rules out an EastEnders return
EastEnders‘ Adam Woodyatt has revealed there are no plans to him to return to the soap, as he prepares to make a late arrival on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!
The actor, best known for his role as Ian Beale, told MailOnline he’s planning to return to the stage for his role in Looking Good Dead in the New Year, alongside his former co-star Laurie Brett.
Adam, who was reportedly paid a six figure sum to take part in the show, also revealed he’s received a few tips from his former co-star Shane Richie about coping with life in Gwrych Castle, but he is keen to go in and ‘find out for himself.’
Grand return: EastEnders’ Adam Woodyatt has revealed there are no plans to him to return to the soap, as he prepares to make a late arrival on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!
Adam took a break from EastEnders in 2020 to appear in his new play alongside Gaynor Faye, and he explained he’ll be heading back to rehearsals after the Christmas break.
The actor revealed Gaynor would be leaving the production, and he’s not set to star opposite Laurie, who played Ian Beale’s former wife Jane.
He said: ‘I come out of the castle, whenever that is, and then I’ve got Christmas off and then I’m back into rehearsals because Laurie is taking over from Gaynor Faye, and then we’re doing that until the end of April.
‘I haven’t worked with [Laurie] yet – we’ve done some rehearsals it’s been a lot of fun working and seeing her again, it’s kind of bittersweet because as much as I’m looking forward to Laurie coming in, I’m going to miss Gaynor because it’s been an absolute joy to work with it’s been wonderful.’
Not yet: The actor, best known for his role as Ian Beale, told MailOnline he’s planning to return to the stage for his role in Looking Good Dead in the New Year
Adam, who revealed he’s already pals with Emmerdale’s Danny Miller and had been interview by Richard Madeley, added that he’s already received some advice from his former soap co-stars about appearing on the show.
He continued: ‘I’ve spoken to my good mate Shane, he’s given me a few, Vicky Pattison has as well, I’ll be honest I didn’t actually ask them, I didn’t actually want to know because I want to go in and find out for myself.
‘I would have actually quite liked it if I hadn’t found out about who the other 10 are, I would have been oging in there completely blind not knowing.
‘Obviously there are some people I do know, but others I don’t and I’ve deliberately not taken time to Google it or research them, because I’d rather hear it from them, I’d rather them tell me who they are.’
Big money: It was reported that Adam agreed to take part in I’m A Celebrity after bosses offered him a bumper pay deal
It was reported that Adam agreed to take part in I’m A Celebrity after bosses offered him a bumper pay deal.
An insider told The Sun: ‘Adam was a big target for the casting team – he is a soap legend and is certain to be a huge hit with fans.
But they knew they might have their work cut out because he has been quite reticent to do interviews or reality TV shows in recent years.’
ITV bosses are believed to be thrilled that Adam, who is currently on an ‘extended break’ from EastEnders, will appear on the reality series.
New adventure: Adam also revealed he’s received a few tips from his former co-star Shane Richie (pictured) about coping with life in Gwrych Castle
It comes after I’m A Celebrity was thrown into chaos on Tuesday as both Naughty Boy and Arlene Phillips threatened to quit the show after just three days in the camp.
The ITV series kicked off its brand new series on Sunday, but the two stars have already shared their intentions to leave the derelict Gwrych Castle following a tough start which saw them spend two days in The Clink.
Towards the end of the show, Ant and Dec confirmed that the pair have joined the Main Camp for now.
Adam’s arrival on I’m A Celebrity will air on Thursday at 9pm on ITV.
